      Responsible for assisting with the supervision and oversight of the officers, civilian employees, and professional staff of six patrol posts, drivers exam stations, motor carrier enforcementunit, salvage inspection unit, and motor vehicle inspection unit. This included, but wasnot limited to, conducting annual performance evaluations, oversight of administrativeinvestigations, conducting interviews and making recommendations for hiring, annual training, administration of discipline, and management of day-to-day operations at thedistrict level. The Columbus District is the busiest and most diverse in the state, encompassing theColumbus metropolitan area, and including Morrow; and Madison Counties. I supervised more than 200 employees on a daily basis, and maintained liaison with local police chiefs to foster a cooperative effort geared toward traffic crash reduction and enhanced overall public safety throughout the district. During this time I served as a detail commander of the Highway Patrol's portion of the Ohio State University home football traffic and security detail, which consisted of morethan 100 officers from the Highway Patrol who worked with officers from the Ohio State University, Franklin County Sheriff's Office and Columbus Police Departments.I was also directly involved in the planning and oversight of numerous Presidential candidate and dignitary visits in coordination with the Secret Service during those years. Show less As a post commander with the Ohio State Highway Patrol I oversaw all administrative andoperational aspects of the post; to include payroll, scheduling, crash and criminal caseinvestigation, invoicing, performance evaluations, overtime equalization, traffic safetyeducation and enforcement, evidence handling, administrative and complaint investigation,community relations, and training. At any given time, the post commander manages a staffof between fifteen and twenty-two troopers, four sergeants, five to six dispatchers, asecretary, and a maintenance repair worker.During my tenure as Post Commander of the Hamilton Post, I was resonsible for a major facility rennovation of the post and grounds.       The Sergeant at Arms office maintains order in the corridors, committee rooms, and offices of the house of representatives in the Vern Riffe center, the hall and gallery of the house of representatives, and those areas of the Vern Riffe center under the exclusive use and control of the house of representatives. Strictly enforce the rules of the house of representatives regulating admission of persons to the floor of the house of representatives;Serves all subpoenas and warrants issued by the house of representatives or any duly authorized officer or committee of the house of representatives;On order for a call of the house of representatives, arrests or causes to be arrested members of the house of representatives and bring the members into the house of representatives;Executes or causes to be executed a warrant for the arrest of a person failing to appear or produce a paper or record pursuant to house of representatives subpoena or order pursuant to section 101.43 of the Revised Code and convey the person to the house of representatives. At the direction of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, provide security for members of the house of representatives, and other legislative employees, and other persons.While providing security has arrest authority as other peace officers to apprehend criminal offenders who endanger or threaten the security of any person being protected, no matter where the arrest occurs.
