  Engineering Intern / Construction Inspector

  I was an Engineering Intern serving as a Construction Inspector for Resource International Inc. The first three months of this internship I worked out of Resource International’s Cleveland, Ohio office. The final four months of the internship I worked out of Resource International’s Columbus, Ohio office. Work responsibilities include concrete field testing, asphalt pavement field testing, review of construction documents with contractor, monitoring of existing structures during construction, soils lab testing, and report writing. Concrete field testing included, but not limited to, making test cylinders, air entrainment tests, concrete slab flatness testing, review of concrete batch cut sheets and approval of field concrete batch adjustments. Types of projects worked on included roadways, commercial and government buildings, government infrastructure, and bridges. During my time working as an intern I progressed to a level where I earned the responsibility to go to job sites and perform critical tasks by myself. Show less

  Structural Engineer

  I was a structural engineering intern for the summer of 2008 and returned for 2 weeks during winter break in December of 2008. Worked at Korda’s Columbus, OH office. Performed structural design, structural analysis, derived loads using ASCE 7, assisted in developing design drawings and reviewed shop drawings. Structural design included the design of steel members, concrete members and various types of foundations. Structural analysis was performed for entire building components, including lateral force resisting steel frames. Structural analysis was completed by utilizing both hand calculations and computer analysis programs. Worked on various commercial and government jobs based out of both the United States and Russia.
