Chief Audiologist, National University Hospital of SingaporeMy role at this clinic was one of initiating change. The one-technician screening audiology service has evolved into a comprehensive diagnostic and rehabilitative clinic with a special emphasis on paediatric care. In February 1999 I opened our hearing aid dispensing clinic, which was very successful (we received an award for “Best New Business of the Year” for SE Asia from Siemens Medical Instruments in 1999. I initiated the universal neonatal hearing-screening program at our hospital (the first in Singapore) in December 1998, and was instrumental in creating, coordinating and supervising the first Hearing Instrument Dispensing Course in SE Asia (September 1999) in conjunction with Siemens and Australian Hearing. I was in charge of lecturing medical students and medical officers on audiological tests/procedures and advancements in technology. In addition I was in charge of the administrative duties related to the clinic operations and staff management and training, and sales and marketing of our services. In 2002 I organized hearing screenings in cooperation with a community health-screening program that was conducted together with the Ministry of Health. We conducted five screening sessions a year and screened over 1,500 senior citizens each year. Show less

      Head Audiologist

I started this position as a clinical audiologist and was promoted to Acting Head. In addition, I was a member of a research team conducting a citywide screening project of the well-baby nurseries. My role at King Faisal involved training the seven staff members about audiological protocols as well as hands-on training and supervision of audiology students. I organized a conscious sedation clinic where the audiologists perform auditory evoked potential tests. I performed the administrative tasks involved in running the clinic. Show less
