      Office Assistant / Shift Supervisor

Sky High Sports is an indoor trampoline park, which allows customers to play on wall-to-wall trampoline courts. The entry-level position for this facility is as a Court Monitor, ensuring customer safety on each of the courts, and supporting customer relations. Maintaining customer safety was paramount, as jumping on trampolines is an extreme sport.I was later trained to be a Party Assistant. The facility held many birthday parties, and as a Party Assistant I hosted the different portions of each party, by serving food and drinks and meeting customer demands. Being a Party Assistant sharpened my focus by accommodating to customer needs in a timely manner.I was later trained to be a Cashier. This position utilized quick math skills as well as a consistently friendly demeanor. I excelled in this position, helping customers and coworkers alike, especially during times of heavy customer flow.In the winter of 2013, I had a brief hiatus from the job, then returned to work. Through my exemplary work habits and demonstrable leadership skills I earned a promotion to Shift Supervisor, where I flourished until I left to study at UCSC.During my summer break from UCSC, I went back to work as an Office Assistant. I was in charge of the book-keeping required for birthday party reservations. I collected customer information over the phone and inside the store and processed payment information for deposits. A week prior to each reservation, I called to confirm the booking and to explain store policies. I responded to customer questions over the phone and through email correspondence without requiring managerial oversight. With every customer correspondence I mentioned the store's policies, including the requisite waiver needed to use the facility. Show less

Venatious is a Video Game Lounge in the Capitola Mall. The store features 65" televisions equipped with contemporary gaming consoles and gaming computers. The store features 200+ video games to select from, while playing in comfortable lounge chairs.I assisted the store's proprietor in the upkeep and operation of the store. My main duties revolved around setting-up video games for customers to play on the computers and consoles, which required effective interpersonal communication skills to ensure customer satisfaction. Knowledge of different game types and which games are in demand presented a unique challenge to cater to the demands of customers. Show less

      Sept 2015 - Jun 2016
      Research Assistant

In the Spontaneous Communication Lab, I worked worked under Professor Jean E. Fox Tree, who studies the production and the comprehension of spontaneous communication. As a research assistant, I was given the opportunity to apply the knowledge I gained in my psychology coursework in a very practical manner. While I worked in the lab, I learned more about different psychological phenomena, but more importantly, how to go about investigating those phenomena through experimental research. I independently guided participants through our experimental studies without the principal researcher present, and collected research data. While conducting the experiments, I described to the subjects the tasks required for the experiment and debriefed them on our intended results post-study. I generated transcripts from recordings of language use, then evaluated recorded data and transcripts for meaningful results. All experimentation was confidential and included the use of consent forms.Faculty Advisor: Prof. Jean E. Fox Tree Show less
