  I studied abroad for a month in Sarnath and Varanasi, India conducting research on health disparities between higher and lower castes. I spent time in low-caste schools and villages speaking with people about their experience, and attended many lectures on health disparities within India. I attended a lecture by the Dalai Lama, and later spoke to him personally, about health care in India. Once arriving back in Asheville, I wrote a paper using my research notes and presented my findings at UNC Asheville. Show less

  Worked closely with NCCASA's Prevention Education Program Manager to develop a public health toolkit to prevent and detect human trafficking on college and university campuses in an accessible and universal format for various stakeholders to adopt. I organized, collaborated, and interviewed with key stakeholders to gather data and information on best public health practices which advanced my project coordination skills.   I co-lead a seminar at the the conference Solving the Campus Sexual Assault and Dating Violence Puzzle: Centering Intersecting Movements as We Listen, Reimagine, & Engage Our Communities on human trafficking prevention among college students. This included an intersectional, public health based, harm-reductionist approach. I continued to develop my research with NCCASA on human trafficking prevention and detection on college campuses from June 2021-December 2021 for the Puzzles conference.
