Sept 2011 - Dec 2011AupairI ventured out of my comfort zone to experience a new challenge in a foreign place. As an aupair, I took on the responsibility of caregiver, teacher, cook and friend to four children ages 4 to 9. I heavily relied on patience and the breaking down of communication barriers in order to earn the children's respect. I was lenient and rewarded good deeds; however, showed assertiveness when it came to getting items accomplished. The skills I learned and practiced have defined my work ethic today.

In addition to, I exceeded in customer service. I made rounds throughout various hospital floors to patients regarding their menu choices and restrictions. I was extremely attentive and did my best to be accommodating to what changes the patients wanted made to their menu. I supported the project manager and our team members by using my organizational skills to keep track of their individual work, legal documents from 400+ landowners and countless supplies. I developed a better knowledge of excel by accruing project finances, while maintaining upkeep on previously assigned spreadsheets. My overall position was to be a team member and alleviate other people's workload. Having great communication and ties between internal staff and higher executives kept me on point throughout my employment.I know how to work in a structured office setting. Aug 2015 - Dec 2015Dietetic internWorked at Dominican University and multiple Chicago Public Schools to make sure Head Start criteria was implemented, giving caregivers more insight to what the children should be eating. I helped create a menu cycle for the month, keeping within the Head Start guidelines and limits. I also created and presented life cycle nutrition information at a resource fair for approximately 150 daycare and CPS employees.

Dominican University partnered with Global Alliance for Africa, a non profit organization who offers micro loans to small entrepreneurs in Kenya and Tanzania. The class also shadowed a large scale of organizations, such as Heshima Kenya, Safaricom, flower farms and Tangaza University's MBA program. The experience has been fulfilling and rewarding in all aspects of business, communication and social responsibility.
