    • City of North Myrtle Beach

      Dec 2001 - Nov 2013
      Councilman

The job of City Council is to lead change in order to gain the most for our future. I believe our City Council quickly resolves conflict to move toward solutions.Effective leaders create a vision by inspiring others to create an atmosphere for that reality to happen. Change is inevitable. By leading change, we’re striving to make it a positive experience for all residents. We are stronger when we are diverse. We’re stronger still when we make diversity work for us. Listening is a key element of communication. Communication is essential for effective local leadership. Before starting anything, we, the City Council, communicate to establish goals, conceptualize a vision, and agree on an approach.I asked myself this on a frequent basis, “What will our legacy be?” Show less

Born and raised in West Virginia, Greg grew up an army brat. His mother was a teacher, and his father was a war hero. As an Eagle Scout, Greg developed a deep appreciation for the great outdoors, and by choice, many of his summer jobs involved working outside. When it came time to choose a career, he chose Landscape Architecture because he felt it best supported his views of stewardship to the land. Greg graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from West Virginia University’s College of Agriculture and Forestry, and in 1992, he founded a successful small business in our community.Greg was a three-term City Councilman for the City of North Myrtle Beach and chose not to run again; his final term ended in November of 2013.Greg is a devoted family man, a husband and father to two sons who both went on to become Eagle Scouts themselves. In his spare time, Greg enjoys swimming, cycling, camping, and hiking; he has completed many marathons and ultra-endurance cross country mountain bike races. Greg served as Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 888 in North Myrtle Beach.Greg believes in community service, common-sense conservatism, and the value of hard work. He knows that success requires grit, guts, and determination, and that working hard for our community means soliciting and listening to the input and ideas of all its citizens. Once Greg puts his mind to a goal, he will work hard to make it happen, and he has a proven record of consensus building. Greg’s core beliefs are derived from common sense, Christian morality, and patriotism.· Strong marriages and families· Fundamental right to life at all stages· Second amendment rights· Protecting veteran’s benefits· Home rule for cities and towns· Promoting hospitality and tourism· Supporting economic platforms that diversify our economy· Quality-of-life for our coastal residents and farmers· Support for interstate 73 and 74 Show less
