Key duties included: Installing and administration of Microsoft SQL server 2008, 2008 R2, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017 with the SP1, 2 or 3 over Windows Server environments. Update the SQL Server Services by applying latest Service Packs & Hot Fixes on Standalone Environment. Performing Backup/Restore via Commvault Commcell, as well as Native SQL Agent Maintenance Plans. Checking the status of backups and troubleshooting failed backups. Taking ad hoc backups as per the request. Restoring the SQL Server database from the backup whenever required. Performing Database Refresh activities from Production to QA / Dev Environments. Upgrading and Migrating the SQL Databases from lower versions to higher versions (In-Place and side by side). Implementation of SQL Logins, Roles and Authentication Modes as a part of Security Policies for various categories of users. Maintaining jobs such as Reorganizing Indexes & Rebuilding Indexes, Maintenance Clean-up, Update Statistics. Creation and Monitoring the scheduled jobs. Checking of Event Logs, SQL Server Logs, Agent Logs and Job history. Monitoring of server performance during peak periods of server utilization. Identifying and Resolving Locking, Blocking and Deadlocking Issues. Configured the DR processes including Log shipping, Database Mirroring. Working with cross functional teams to resolve high priority incidents. Well versed on the ITIL processes involved which enabled me to work with INCs, REQs, SCTASKs, CHGs & PRBs (Management) across large teams. Development and deployment of automation using a prompt approach, which helped the DBAs to administer on multiple remote servers without a dependency on any 3rd party tools whatsoever. Designing scripts in native scripting languages like PowerShell, which will aid in the automation of the said DBA tasks.  Training the junior resources for executions of various L1 & L2 tasks.
