  Student Helper

  I worked as a Student Helper during the University of Bristol Open Days. I spent my time guiding prospective students through a Round-The-Pole demonstration, helping them apply the basic concepts of aircraft design and optimization to build simple airplane models and testing them for slow speeds in a around-the-pole flight. This activity was a taster of the course, as it takes place during the first year of the Aerospace Engineering program.

  Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Officer

  As an AeroSoc Equality Officer, it is my job to promote the well-being of all our members, creating a discrimination-free safe space amongst the entire University of Bristol Aerospace community.I developed a year plan where an Equality and Inclusion-related theme has been allocated to each month. Themes range from a Women in Aerospace Month, to a LGBTQIA+ month and a Mental Health Awareness month.I have been working with the University's ILO and the society's Outreach Officer to bring Bristol alumni guest speakers from a diversity of backgrounds. Using the society’s social media platforms (particularly Instagram), I have been collaborating with AeroSoc's Social Media Officer to share the stories of various important aerospace-related personalities. These people were chosen based on the monthly society theme, to raise awareness of the specific issues faced by certain minorities in the industry.I have been collaborating with AeroSoc's Social Secretaries to plan and organize equality-driven socials throughout the 22/23 academic year, such as the Women in Aerospace nights or the Latino night-out social. These events help create a sense of community amongst minority students. Show less

  My job as an equality Officer is to ensure all of the BristolSEDS members feel safe and included in our society's activities.As such, I have been working alongside the rest of the committee to create a wide range of inclusive social events, such as alcohol-free activities or non-nocturnal socials. I have been advocating for more inclusive and diverse competition teams (for the UKSEDS competitions we enrol in), both gender-wise and ethnicity-wise. In collaboration with other societies, I have been working on planning a Space Law panel, where the ethics of Space Exploration and speculation about its future developments will be explored and discussed by a guest panel of specialists.
