  The Medical Genetics Service of the Hospital Complex conducts studies on the causes of congenital defects and intellectual disability; of hereditary diseases that can affect the different systems of the organism; fertility studies; and prenatal studies, such as prenatal diagnosis of chromosomal alterations and hereditary diseases.During the internship in this center you can perform different tasks such as:· The organization, management and registration of biological samples according to standardized health protocols, as well as their pre- and post-analytical processing.· I developed extractions of DNA and RNA from peripheral blood, cell cultures and fresh and paraffin tissues.· I performed techniques for molecular diagnosis: PCR, RT-PCR, fragment analysis and Sanger sequencing.· Participated in the experimental design of a research on penetrance modifying polymorphisms of genes associated with hereditary cancer.
