      Oct 2018 - Aug 2019
      Sabbatical

To decompress from the intensity of launching and growing an organization in my twenties, I traded 5:30am (cross-time-zone) board meetings for 5:30 am starts for dive trips. I learned new rhythms and reconnected with my whole self through freediving and scuba diving in the Gulf of Thailand. I spent months in, on, and under the ocean, marvelling at the other-worldliness of complex reef ecosystems, facilitating moments of wonder for other divers, and encountering the occasional whale shark. In the process, I witnessed the immediacy of the need to operate within our planetary boundaries and came to see whole systems thinking in a fresh light. During surface intervals, I processed my journey as a co-founder and reflected on my attempts at doing development differently, recursively deepening my learnings. Show less
