      Program Manager/Research Associate/Academic Administrator/Faculty

I filled many professional roles while at the Texas Medical Center (TMC) in Houston (www.texmedctr.tmc.edu). The TMC is the largest in the world (www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_Medical_Center) and I have listed URL's for the major components where I worked and learned. The University of Texas HSC at Houston (www.uthouston.edu) School of Public Health (UTSPH; www.sph.uth.tmc.edu) encompassed most of my experiences. While at the UTSPH I was a Public Health Service (PHS) Cross-Cultural trainee, a project manager and research associate at the Coordinating Center for Clinical Trials (www.sph.uth.tmc.edu/ccct/) and the Center for Health Promotion and Prevention Research www.sph.uth.tmc.edu/chppr/. I also earned a Master in Public Health (MPH) in Community Health Practice and a Ph.D. in Community Health Science.I also served on the faculty at the University of Houston College of Pharmacy (www.pharmacy.uh.edu/index.php) where I taught research methods and health services courses as well as serving on masters’ thesis committees. I also earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at the University of Houston CT Bauer Graduate School of Business (www.bauer.uh.edu/index.htm).In addition I was the director for the evening programs at the Houston Community College System (HCCS) Coleman College for Health Careers (coleman.hccs.edu/portal/site/coleman/) and an instructor in the Computer Information Systems Department.I worked with Dr. Leslie Cortes, Director of Medical Quality Assurance (MQA) at the Texas Department of Human Services (DHS). We primarily did applied research on nursing facilities that resulted in policy white papers and specific policy recommendations. After about a year I was "promoted" to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) program and worked as a lead for Electronic Data Interchange (EDI). As a result of Texas HB 2282 a reorganization (and "streamlining") of several state health and human service agencies. Show less

      Founder and CEO

I have written public health and human services related material for various audiences. Healthcare KEYS was started in 2008 in Texas and is now a limited liability company headquartered in Florida. it is currently not generating a great deal of revenue but it does provide an umbrella institutional identity for current creative efforts. Audiences include general readership (e.g., commentaries for the Austin American Statesman), health and human service professionals (e.g., Encyclopedia of Primary Prevention, Controlled Clinical Trials, American Public Health Association, etc.), and others (e.g., moderating panels and leading groups concerned with health policy issues).
