    • The University of Tokyo

      Apr 2022 - now
      JSPS Postdoctoral research fellow

Working to unravel the molecular mechanisms of nutritropism in rice lateral roots. Nutritropism helps plant to reorient their root growth towards higher nutrition. Characterization of CRISPR/Cas9 genome edited mutant lines of a hormone transporter gene was my first project, and methods such as nutrient treatments to in vitro and soil grown rice plant roots, root curvature analysis of stacked images (time lapse scanned images), staining and microscopic analysis of starch deposition in root tips, and genotyping by sequencing (GBS) were used. In my second project, I have been working to find the effect of light on root nutritropism and how phytochrome photoreceptors are involved in this process. Findings are now in the publication process. Through these studies I have gained a good set of skills on functional genomics, molecular and cell biology.Published abstract: https://www.jstage.jst.go.jp/article/dohikouen/68/0/68_63_3/_article/-char/ja/ Show less
