Mountain safety is his other main priority during these trips, and so great care is taken regarding hazardous terrain and risk management.Sander also works for the Snow Safety Center. He has worked for many years as an SSC ski guide, providing training in mountain and avalanche awareness. Therefore he always knows the latest risk management and search & rescue techniques.In his spare time Sander is usually freeriding high up on the mountain, cruising down steep slopes or through narrow couloirs and is always on the lookout for fresh new routes. STOP... or go!Freeride Safety CoursesPowder skiing in the off-piste can be a dangerous sport, which in the Alps takes several lives a year! Lets say about 100 avalanche deaths per year. Hundreds of people end up in crevasses and that doesn't always end well. To avoid you becoming a victim of your favorite sport, a good training is essential. Therefore a number of enthusiastic riders in cooperation with the Dutch Ski Association founded the Snow Safety Center. With the SSC you can do courses where they teach you how to stay safe of the beaten track. These courses are not just 'introductory', but complete training for freeriders. Show less
