      The job mainly involves being the first line of response to incidents varying from first aid to public order and crime. Capacity to spot trouble early and to find ways of de-fusing it, as well as the capacity to communicate effectively.To ensure the safety and security of staff, students and visitors at any Kingston University site.Regular patrols carried out on foot, dealing with potential or actual breaches of security, health and safety, and issues such as noise violation or use of illegal substances.Maintain accurate records, both in note books and as official incident reports, while respecting Data Protection issues. Take appropriate action to handle and contain incidents sensitively (e.g. aggression, theft). Ensure as much information as possible is available (eg carry out ID checks). Provide first aid as needed. This also includes contacting the emergency services.Dealing sensitively with distressed students, providing general advice on University services available.Attend and take control of, emergency incidents such as Fire Alarms, following procedures, calling Emergency services and re-setting alarms as necessary.Deal with emergency maintenance issues that may occur during a shift, varying from personally carrying out emergency lock changes to student bedrooms in cases of loss/theft of keys to contacting Responsive Maintenance call-out. Ensure the University parking regulations are upheld, including liaising with sub-contractors if necessary and wherever possible preventing/reporting dangerous driving.In any emergency situation to immediately contact Shift Supervisor and/or police if applicable.Respond to Intruder alarm activations.Develop and maintain good working relationships with both University and external authorities (including emergency services) to ensure their continuing support, understanding and assistance.Where necessary to drive Security mobile vehicle and act as support to other officers.
