  Studio Manager

  My role was managing a studio and repro room within the company. The studio consisted of 4 people covering all disciplines of design, type setting and repro, five Mac’s, an image setter, a colour laser and a fully equipped litho plate room. My time was spent 40% on the Mac’s and 60% in the daily affairs of the studio, from collecting the overtime to leasing with customers and the production department. I found I became proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel in the keeping track of all that was going on in a busy department.Customer contact was a daily occurrence, as I had personally developed strong relationships with many of the clients. They would often visit the office to go through their requirements, and sit with me while we rework designs on screen. Many of them said, I made a great tea with two. I pride myself on a friendly but professional approach to the customer, their requirements and their needs.As part of my role within the company I worked as a designer/digital art-worker on the Macintosh platform. Using predominantly Quark Express, Illustrator and Photoshop. Also some Freehand and a slew of others as occasions would dictate. In the studio I was able to take a job from concept to printing plate. Then I could see the job take shape when the ink goes on the paper in the print shops. Show less

  Lecturer - Graphic Design

  I was employed as a graphic design lecturer, personal tutor and BND Graphic Design Course Leader within the school of art and design. I taught on the BA (hons) Degree, BTEC National Diploma and HNC in graphic design.My roles and responsibilities involved all aspects of course leadership for a cohort of approximately fifty students, across years one and two. I was responsible for guiding students through the UCAS process and helping them build portfolios for interviews at university and employment. On a daily basis I taught the principles of visual communication, coached students in creative problem solving and helped the students explore creative mediums such as photography, print, computers and more traditional hand rendered processes. I helped students with time management helping them to plan and hit deadlines. Show less

  I was employed as a graphic design lecturer, personal tutor and 'Curriculum Manager for Further Education, (16-19 year old's) Graphic Design' within the school for creative arts. I taught on the BA (hons) degree in graphic design, HNC in graphic design and the ual: National & Extended Diplomas. I teach across all aspects of visual communication within the department, although I am known for my love of all things typographic.Some of my responsibilities included; timetables, recruiting staff, teaching observations, staff appraisal, curriculum development standards verification, Internal verification, teaching and assessment.My role was a highly creative on a number of levels including; helping student solve complex graphic design problems in original and exciting ways. Developing an interesting and challenging curriculum that enables students to learn, progress and gain passion for the subject. Develop and support team members in their delivery of the curriculum. Finally teach and support students in developing computer skills in the main Adobe Creative Suite packages, InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop CS6. My latest role was challenging and made me extend not only my graphic design knowledge but my communication, and time management skills as well. Show less

  Freelance Senior Designer - Off-Air

  Working for stake holders in a range of areas such as marketing and creative, I managed a small team on the Telemundo launch in South Africa and Angola. I also supported the development of the on air and off air corporate style guidelines for the re-brand of the universal channel.There were a range of roles and responsibilities during this time ranging from, managing the expectations of stake holders to ensuring the prompt dispatch of deliverables. I also took a very hands on role in the preparation and development of artwork being sent to a range of manufacturing centres in the appropriate countries. During the month I was there I worked closely with a wide range of NBC employees from account handlers, marketing executives and stake holders including the VP - International Creative. Show less
