      Perform administration duties to assist the Federal Member in their electorate. Day to day operation of an Electorate Office as well as managing finances. As Personal Assistant to the Federal Member I was responsible for maintaining the Members diary and schedule, booking accommodation, flights and cars. These duties require the use of office administration using Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, the Electrac System, and the internet, as well as other roles including receptionist, ministerial correspondence, constituent correspondence, researching current affairs that impact on the electorate. I was also responsible for assisting constituents over the phone, or in person with issues and concerns that are impacting on them and their family and making representations to the appropriate Minister or Government Department. These issues can range from constituents requiring guidance as to which level of government they need to contact and the manner in which to do this, liaising with Centrelink, the Department of Immigration, Child Support Agency, Customs, Treasury, up to and including the Prime Ministers office. One of my other responsibilities is liaising with community groups and assisting them and supporting them to access grant information and applications as well as letters of support from the local member. I am also responsible for assisting in the organisation of various community events which the Federal Member enacts for the constituents of their electorate for example, Petrie School Summit, Defence Medal Presentations and Local Sporting Champions Grants, Welcoming the Babies, Lilley Australia Day Awards.       Whist this is a voluntary position with the Australian Baseball League it is a role that has offered me many opportunities to expand my horizons and work within event and sports management. I was requested and supported to develop this position and the volunteer positions by the Brisbane Bandits General Manager Paul Gonzales.My role with the Brisbane Bandits is to source and train volunteers in the many voluntary roles within the organisation, these roles include, ticket sales, on-field presentation, management of teams both home and away, field preparations, hosting international players and officials, game day set up, and problem solving strategies so that the game series continues. As I was responsible for developing these roles and felt it necessary to have the ability to work in these positions and have a full understanding of the requirements of the position so that I was able to find a natural fit of volunteer to position. I also believe it good practice to take on board comments by the volunteers working in these positions to make improvements to the role. Show less
