BSc Hons Elec. Eng., MSc (Cum Laude) Elec. Eng., PhD Power Eng., SAIMC, ECSA Cand. Engineer

  • Education

    • University of KwaZulu-Natal

      2021 - 2023
Doctor of Philosophy - PhD Electrical and Electronics Engineering

My PhD is a continuation of of the work I did at my Masters. With this study I aim to broaden the work I have started and develop different topologies that will overcomes more challenges than the current topologies and implement practical prototype that will be tested under different loading conditions.

    • Durban University of Technology

      2022 - 2023
Doctor of Philosophy - PhD Electrical Engineering NQF L10
    • University of KwaZulu-Natal

      2014 - 2017
BSc Hons. Electrical Engineering Electrical and Electronics Engineering

This course was based on High Voltage, Power Systems, Power Electronic, Programming ( C+, Visual Basics, Atmel Studio, Matlab, Proteus, FEMM, etc), Circuit Design (Multism, PSCAD, RSCAD, Proteus, Matlab, etc.) Finite Mathematics, Calculus, Environmental Engineering, Management, Enterepreneurship, Semicunductor Science, Thermodynamics and Thermofluids, Nuclear Physics, etc.

    • University of KwaZulu-Natal

      2018 - 2019
Master of Science - MS Electrical and Electronics Engineering

I did a research on the different control techniques (PWM control schemes) to achieve a better (big boost, more stability, less harmonic noise) conversion of DC power from renewable energysources to AC power by a Z-Source Inverter (ZSI).

  • Experience

    • Assmang Catoridge Works

      Mar 2018 - Oct 2018
      Engineer in training

During this role I was shadowing the section engineer. With the help of the artisans and technicians, artisans; were performing the routine, corrective and breakdown maintenance. I, with the help of the senior engineer, managed a successful project of the upgrade of the power substation of a metal crushing plant.I led the electrical design and commissioning of an electronic safety statistics board and an electronic Google Maps based tracking devices.

    • The South African Breweries

      Nov 2018 - Jan 2022

I was owning and managing the heard-office and locally planned projects that seeked to lower the packaging's utilities usage back to spec.I was owning and leading the implementation of Good Operation Procedures (GOP) and Best Practices Preventative Measures (BPPM) in order to lower the packaging plant usage of utilities.Unfortunately I left this role too early because of my health condition that time. However with the help of specialist doctors I'm back to my prime. I have all the supporting documentation. Show less During my traineeship at SAB I did a hands-on type of learning and comprehending the operation of packaging department. The pack-hall had a lot of equipment and the traineeship was structured in a module-per-each packaging equipment fashion. Therefore, I learnt to operate, maintain to basic condition and optimize each packaging machine in terms of utility usages while working under safe conditions. These equipments include the following: The bottle washers, bottle rinsers, bottle and can fillers, pasteurizers, flash pasteurizers, casers/uncasers, palletisers/depalletisers, decrowners, stretch-wrappers, shrink-wrappers, tray-packers, bottle labellers, date-coders, etc. I also learnt about the inspection equipment such as the all surface empty bottle inspectors (ASEBI), filler valves monitors (FVM), taptones, empty case inspectors (ECI), full bottle inspectors (FBI), full cases inspectors (FCI), etc. We also learnt the verticalises operations in detail such as the bottle, crate, shrink-wrappers, stretch-wrapper, crown, trays and can manufacturing.I then learnt the Voyages Plant Optimisation (VPO) which teaches the best practices to effectively and sustainability manage the operation of the packaging hall and the brewery at large. I learnt, as a prerequisite to complete my traineeship, how other support departments integrate to packaging and and contribute to the sending of beer into the warehouse.Towards the end of my traineeship I acted on the team-leader and unit manager role. During These roles, I used all the information gained to manage the departments of cans (330 ml and 500 ml) and quarts (660 ml and 750 ml). My work was easier on the technical side because of the knowledge I gained on the modules I did during the course of my taineeship.Due to my understanding of other departments I knew exactly what to expect and what to offer as per the Service Level Agreements (SLA) that govern the inter-departmental working.
