      Sept 2015 - Sept 2017
      Kitchen Assistant

This role involved preparing food, cleaning the kitchen and dishes as well as keeping track of orders. This proved to be a very fast-paced workplace which required consistency above anything else to maintain a high professional standard when serving customers. I learned how to multitask and manage time under pressure whilst prioritizing the most important jobs first. Furthermore, I made sure communication with the head chef was clear and concise as mistakes made in this role are costly to the customer’s satisfaction. Show less

      Sept 2015 - Sept 2017
      Piano Teacher

In May of 2015 I decided to share my musical knowledge with aspiring musicians of varying age groups. My idea was to create a learning environment that would introduce students to the piano and put the emphasis on entertainment rather than tuition. The end goal would be to encourage more people to play music whether it be piano or any other instrument. This role improved my independence and organisation when planning lessons tailored to the individual. I aimed to make each lesson both intriguing and informative, and this balance differed between the ages. Communication was also a key component in this role as it not only makes the learning environment engaging but clear explanations are important for progress to be made by the students. To prepare for this role I used methods set by my own teacher during my years of learning, as well as researched various teaching approaches online. I also used my technological background to familiarize those who were interested in using computer software to create music alongside learning the piano. Over the last 3 years I have managed to introduce a dozen people into playing the piano and hope for more. Show less

      Jul 2016 - Jul 2016
      Food And Beverage Assistant

During my time at Legoland, I learned the professionalism associated with a large corporation and my responsibilities representing them. Whether working with a great team of employees or by myself I always aimed to supply customers with exceptional service. To achieve this, I applied my experience communicating with different ages groups when serving customers or helping them with any queries they may have had. Above all, gaining more experience working in a team was my greatest take away from this role. Show less

      Sept 2016 - Jun 2017
      Football Referee

Football is a great passion of mine and I aim to play as much as I can. This fuelled my interest in becoming a referee and putting my foot in the door of officiating. This role unquestionably approved my ability to work under pressure due to the time constraints and multiple variables I had to control. Working as a referee meant that I improved my conflict resolution skills, and at the same time, develop communicational techniques in heated moments. After finishing the refereeing course, I am now able to work as a qualified level 8 referee gaining many skills along the process. Show less

      Work Experience

In July of 2016 I spent a week with Microsoft’s exchange team at their Reading headquarters. I spent every day being introduced to new people at Microsoft, each from different sectors of the company. This really shaped my interpersonal skills and engagement with the working employees. In addition to this, I shadowed technicians and got involved in company meetings which opened me up to the corporate world of one of the largest players in the tech industry. I finished the week with a better understanding of this type of working environment as well as multiple skills, greater confidence, and new ambitions. Show less

Jagz is a key player in providing the experience for Royal Ascot and horse racing events. Being the first business from Ascot station, Jagz receives large crowds that require food, drink, and entertainment before moving to the racecourse. For this reason, the most critical skill needed to thrive here was working under immense pressure. Alongside this, I've gained considerable inter-personal and team-work skills.

      Aug 2019 - Sept 2019
      Packing Operative

During the summer of 2019, I contacted a recruitment agency for some temporary work between university terms. I was fortunate enough to work for a respectable company in an entirely new industry for me. This role taught me to adapt quickly in order to meet the daily requirements as a packing operative. After day one I was able to work at the same speed as the rest of the team and soon enough we were working ahead of schedule.

    • Keele University Students' Union (KeeleSU)

      Sept 2019 - May 2020
      Catering Assistant

As a student, I was very interested in part-time work in between lectures. The student union was a perfect opportunity for obvious reasons so I enquired about the role. Working here I could apply my previous knowledge of working in catering and on the bar which made transitioning to this role seamless. The role involved taking orders, serving food and drink, as well as maintaining a comfortable environment for students wanting to take a break from their schedules. I had a great experience serving other students like me and met many amazing people along the way. Show less
