Quality Control Specialist: Molecular Biology, Immunology, qPCR and Flow Cytometry SME

  • Education

    • San Jose State University

      2008 - 2013
      Bachelor’s Degree Chemistry
  • Experience

    • GenPharm International, Inc.

      Jun 1990 - Nov 1997
      Research Associate

Performed the construction of an expression vector system incorporating synthetic immunoglobulin genes generated through PCR. The resulting construct was used for the production of the recombinant antibodies that became the company’s first entirely human antibody product (HuMax-CD4) to enter Phase I clinical trials for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (following the acquisition of GenPharm by Medarex in 1997).

    • Medarex, Inc.

      Nov 1997 - Jan 2010
      Research Associate 3

Member of a small molecular biology group that was tasked with developing a novel expression system to produce recombinant antibodies. The resulting expression system produced (anti-CTLA4) antibodies that eventually became known as ipilimumab, subsequently becoming an FDA approved immunotherapy for the treatment of metastatic melanoma (following the acquisition of Medarex by Bristol-Myers Squibb in 2010).

    • Bristol-Myers Squibb Company, Biologics Discovery California

      Jan 2010 - Mar 2014
      Research Associate 3

Tasked with producing high quality pure DNA suitable for pronuclear microinjection to achieve the overall goal of creating new transgenic models for the company’s HuMab platform. Developed PCR genotyping assays and antigen-specific ELISA procedures to characterize new transgenic models. Developed successful real-time quantitative PCR assays to determine the transgene copy number in our new transgenic lines. Performed 8-color immunostaining for analysis of B-cell populations by flow cytometry via the FACSCanto instrument. Show less

    • AutoGenomics, Inc.

      Sept 2014 - Feb 2017
      Senior Research Associate

The INFINITI® system is designed specifically for processing AutoGenomics' unique proprietary BioFilmChip® microarrays that can be multiplexed and configured with hundreds of biomarkers to assess disease signatures from a single sample template. As a member of the R&D Chemistry group, I...-executed research and development projects with a focus on biochemical and process improvements for molecular diagnostic applications, utilizing a variety of molecular biology techniques.-collaborated with other departments supporting the transfer of assays to the Clinical Laboratory.-co-managed the planning and execution of research and development studies.-performed experiments using advanced molecular biology techniques including multiplex PCR, quantitative PCR, variant genotyping, and sequence validation.-examined data and prepared technical reports, summaries, protocols, and manufacturing procedures.
