  Field Archaeologist (Field School)

  At Mitchell Prehistoric Site, I was trained as a field archaeologist as a part of a field school. Responsibilities and tasks included: surveying, recording with the total station, plan drawing, context recording and site photography, finds washing and sorting and recording, sampling of charcoal for radiocarbon dating. I also worked with members of the public discussing the site, it's history and our work within it. I also took part in an 'Archaeology Awareness Day' and was responsible for the 'Kid's Dig' which involved working with children, teaching them basic trowel technique and the ability to identify bone and pottery.   As a part of this position, I worked to create education boxes for a community museum. This involved selecting materials that our team thought to be appropriate and coming up with an innovative way to present them to school groups through exhibition research and design. We produced a 'History Detectives' program which encouraged children to work out what the more unusual objects in the collection were by asking questions in a progressive and intellectual way appropriate to curriculum intentions.

  As a coach in this program, I worked to assist the aims of promoting equal opportunities by serving as a one-on-one English coach to a year 10 student who came from a disadvantaged school. This position involved weekly meetings as well as lesson preparation which involved creating lesson plans and producing teaching materials.

I was in charge of coordinating with team leaders with regards to site maintenance and had duty management responsibilities. I also worked within the public events team to organise, promote and carry out events. Within this role, I have been in charge of company research and outreach and have been the liaison between external companies and the Palace.
