  Started my position here as a milk and paper delivery boy. Due to hard work was given hours in the store cleaning, stock taking and helping with deliveries to businesses. Went on to work as a shop assistant and became a shift leader, was also put in charge of all paper and milk deliveries. Duties of the shift manager included data analysis, sales forecasting, stock taking and looking after staff's needs. Understanding the customer and helping senior managers make decisions. Looked at prices and helped commit to deals etc. Serving the customers and cleaning were also duties that were carried out at higher levels also. Show less

  I was part of a central department that was in charge of the day to day entries made into the accounts. Duties also included the month end and year end responsibilities. Role meant that you worked very closely with all departments including the tax and audit teams to make sure that all entries made accurate and to that countries GAAP. Other duties included making sure that efficiency was driven within the business and that time was saved where possible by the design and implementation of automated systems. Show less

  Roles within all sectors of the business during my placement I have interacted with all staff. I have incorporated the first structured marketing programme and have designed and sustainably developed automated analysis systems so that this work can continue when I leave. I have spent the majority of my time within the accounts department and have worked all the way to director level to gain an appreciation of the responsibilities within accounts. I have learnt traditional methods of integrity and respect and have modernised these into new operating systems, for example electronic payment and invoicing. Spent time on the shop floor, sales department, estimation and production management to understand the full scale of a business and the different perspectives of individuals within those sectors. Finally had many small projects and followed several jobs through all sectors to see the real workings of this.Completed a portfolio for a London Institute of City And Guilds Show less
