  I served for about 12 years in the Indian Army .. I was first attached to the Maratha Light Regiment for a year in Assam where I was deployed in counter insurgency operation against the UFLA and Bodo militants. I was instrumental in mediating the surrender of two militants who were part of the UFLA political wing in Morigaon district. I got them to surrender by using soft skills of negotiation rather than by the use of threats and force. In the process they became my good friends and lead me to a number of arms cache and rhino poachers stacks. I served in the Electronics and Mechanical engineers for the remainder of tenure, managing army workshops and men. The largest workshop was spread in an area of about 100 acres with about 200 personnel with a work load of about 2000 vehicle, 100 heavy equipment like compressors, 400 guns including Bofors etc. Show less
