      I’m the Head of the UK Delegation at the IMO for the technical Sub-Committees, and Deputy Head of Delegation at the Maritime Safety Committee and Marine Environment Protection Committee as well as following technical matters in an international context. I am part of the International Liaison team within Ship Standards at the MCA. From January 2020 I became the head of the UK delegation for the IMO technical sub-committees (NCSR, SDC, PPR, SSE, HTW & CCC) I seconded to the EU exit team working on the regulatory effect of leaving Europe and shaping the UK's future for maritime. I lead a variety of high profile projects with cross cutting issues for U.K. Government. I also advised on technical policy in the full range of regulations which affect merchant shipping from Port State Control and Ship Stability to Seafarer Training. I led on the negotiation, development and dissemination of policy on quality assurance systems and processes for marine equipment intended for use on UK ships, including the implementation of the Marine Equipment Directive and equivalent arrangements for non-Convention vessels, as well as developing policy on life-saving and fire-fighting equipment for small commercial vessels and pleasure vessels.

      Lead Regulatory Specialist

      Interfacing between the international regulator (the International Maritime Organization) and industry on all things green house gas emissions to assist the industry’s preparation for shipping’s decarbonisation journey. Following the work of both IMO’s MEPC on the development of mid-term measures for the reduction of GHG emissions from ships and review of the CII framework, and MSC’s work on providing a regulatory framework for the deployment of future fuels and technologies at scale.
