  As a childcare assistant the role was to supervise children with ages ranging from 2 to 16 on both a group and one-to-one basis. As a keen sportsman, I also taught and supervised sport sessions with the children. It was also necessary to liaise with parents on a regular basis and work with many different staff members. As part of the job I was trained as a lifeguard, first aid trained and received qualifications in food hygiene.

  Working with stroke patients with varying degrees of physical and mental impairment to help them with their physical rehabilitation. For some patients this would entail working with them on a one-to-one basis to help them climb the stairs in there own home and for some this would require simply keeping them company throughout their workouts. As vice president of the group, I had responsibilities supervising the other volunteers and liaising with other health care professionals to devise health care plans for the patients. Show less

  A level 3 REPs qualified personal trainer, with additional qualifications to take spinning, boxercise and circuit training classes. Have previous experience working with stroke patients to aid their rehabilitation in a gym environment on both a one-to-one basis and in a group. As vice president of the group also had responsibilities to supervise the other volunteers and sit in on meetings to discuss treatment plans.

  DSActive is a sports programme for people with Down’s syndrome administered by the Down’s Syndrome Association (DSA).DSActive is set up to provide opportunities for people with Down’s syndrome to be active, be healthy and play sport. We currently support 1000 people with Down’s syndrome in sport sessions all over the country. We are an expert training provider to many major National Governing Bodies. We run festivals in different sports, including our National Football Festival which is the largest event in the country for people with Down’s syndrome. We are world leading experts in Down’s syndrome sport and it’s our job to make sure they have all the opportunities they deserve. Show less
