  Responsible for defining the Universities IT infrastructure strategy relating to its current Estates Master plan. I liaised with faculty staff and e-learning specialists to provide an IT teaching environment to meet the challenges of education in the twenty first century. I ensure that the IT department is fully aligned with the University’s estates master plan working closely with the master plan design team consisting of building industry professionals and various internal schools and departments.I specialised in the design and implementation of complex campus infrastructure. This ranged from specification and design of complex network systems to audio visual and telephony infrastructure. Partnering closely with building architects and engineering consultants I have developed strategic cost plans and IT specifications to assist building design teams better plan and understand the complex issues surrounding IT infrastructure. I managed the complex relationship between IT services and the relevant business units within the university. I also managed the external relations with professional external partners such as architects, building consultants and IT service suppliers. I have developed data centre specifications and strategies to allow the university to best meet the considerable challenges and uncertainty surrounding server infrastructure. This included detailed options appraisal and cost modelling analysis to determine the long-term data centre strategy for the university. I was instrumental in the development of the NESS shared data centre facility business model. I also developed much of the technical infrastructure design. This includes resilient power and network systems as well as leading edge free air-cooling infrastructure. I developed free air cooling strategy and was instrumental in the design specification. I developed specifications to Uptime institute tier requirements including security, M & E systems and network infrastructure. Show less
