      As a crisis responder, I was expected to take calls and texts from people facing suicidal ideations. Responders are most importantly responsible for offering emotional support and resources without judgment, and assessing the risk of suicide while supporting the person reaching out. As a crisis responder, I worked collaboratively with the help-seeker to create a safety plan, and in a small number of cases, involve emergency services.
