Paradigm Surgical devices fixate prophylactic mesh significantly faster and more effectively than current techniques, offering novel, highly-efficient, and user-friendly solutions to the hernia epidemic.Responsibilities/Accomplishments:• Led the designing, prototyping, and testing initiatives for three hernia mesh fixation devices (SafeClose System™, Dispenser System™, and Dual Tacker Device™) that automate and standardize the mesh fixation procedure, making the procedure up to 20 times faster and 25% more effective than the current standard-of-care• Spearheaded R&D initiative as company’s first employee to take it from concept to an established start-up, yielding five issued patents, three published manuscripts, several functional prototypes, and a successful in-vivo animal trial• Designed studies for four federal grant proposals that garnered over $2.25M in Phase I and Phase II funding from the NSF and NIH.       Certified Leader National Institute for Leadership Advancement (NILA) Aug 2015 Participated in a 5 day long program hosted by the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers(SHPE) at the Facebook Headquarters in Menlo Park, CA. The program was for SHPE leaders around the country and it consisted of case studies, workshops, and exams meant to fortify and strengthen our leadership skills. Those who completed the program and performed adequately on the exams and case studies were awarded the Certified Leader certificate.
