Paradigm Surgical devices fixate prophylactic mesh significantly faster and more effectively than current techniques, offering novel, highly-efficient, and user-friendly solutions to the hernia epidemic.Responsibilities/Accomplishments:• Led the designing, prototyping, and testing initiatives for three hernia mesh fixation devices (SafeClose System™, Dispenser System™, and Dual Tacker Device™) that automate and standardize the mesh fixation procedure, making the procedure up to 20 times faster and 25% more effective than the current standard-of-care• Spearheaded R&D initiative as company’s first employee to take it from concept to an established start-up, yielding five issued patents, three published manuscripts, several functional prototypes, and a successful in-vivo animal trial• Designed studies for four federal grant proposals that garnered over $2.25M in Phase I and Phase II funding from the NSF and NIH.
