  The purpose of this project was to determine if Vitamin B could deter the negative effects of diabetes on bone tissue and if it could nullify the decreasing effect in the biomechanical strength of the bone.Throughout the year I prepped human bone tissue specimens into beams and incubated them in a variety of mixtures including varying concentrations of Vitamin B. After incubation was complete, the samples were then tested for advanced glycation end-product concentrations (AGEs, a component known to promote poor tissue quality), pentosidine concentrations, and mechanical properties (via cRPI and three-point bending).
