      Jan 2006 - Aug 2008
      Assistant Organizational Leader/Salesperson

      - Sought to challenge myself and improve communications skills by selling educational products door-to-door while pursuing an undergraduate degree in Biological Engineering- Directed a 38 person sales organization that generated over $750,000 in sales in three months- Personal sales ranked in top 4% out of over 2,200 salespeople for three consecutive years- Personally recruited and managed a 9 person sales team that ranked in top 8% out of over 200 teams - Received over 300 hours of sales and management training- Relocated to Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd summers, respectively Show less

    • Louisiana Tech University

      Sept 2008 - May 2011
      Graduate Fellow

      - Worked as part of a five person team to design a cost-effective prosthetic hand that is controlled through an amputee’s nervous system- Received Outstanding Masters Student Award for top research in Biomedical Engineering- Personally designed and evaluated a haptic feedback system to help amputees improve their dexterity with neuroprosthetic hands- Proposed and successfully defended a method for using haptic feedback to “fuse” an amputee’s phantom limb with their prosthetic limb while simultaneously reducing phantom limb pain- Recorded EMG signals from non-amputees’ forearms using a CleveMed BioRadio and LabView as subjects performed various hand movements. Used this data to assist in the development and evaluation of an EMG classifier in MATLAB for converting EMG signals to prosthetic hand movements. The classifier involved a non-linear support vector machine algorithm that classified five different hand movements with greater than 89% accuracy. Machine learning and pattern recognition techniques were used to automatically improve performance over time.- Recorded human EEG Signals using an Electrical Geodesics, Inc. (EGI) 128-Channel EEG System for Evoked Response Potential (ERP) Studies. Analyzed this data using both EGI’s Net Station Software and MATLAB.- Signal Processing and analysis techniques used: signal extraction, signal separation, signal averaging, signal reconstruction, signal array processing, mathematical modeling, and statistics - Instructed both lab and classroom portions of an undergraduate bioinstrumentation course, teaching students how to record and analyze physiological signals Show less
