  Gymnastics Instructor

  I learnt a variety of skills whilst working here. The job requirements involved coaching children aged 4-14 different gymnastic skills for which they would achieve awards. The other requirement was learning how to use, set up and dismantle the equipment and to train new coaches the skills required to teach the children. It was a physically demanding job however the benefits were fantastic.

  Customer Service Supervisor

  I have learnt many different skills working in the retail environment, how to deal with complaints and what customers like and dislike. In the two and a half years of working at Waitrose I was driven to have different opportunities, before leaving I moved into a supervisorial role within the checkouts section. I was also left with the responsibility of supervising a late-night shift. Whilst working at Waitrose I increased my communication and customer service skills considerably and regularly had to diffuse difficult situations. Show less

  Work experience

  Between the end of sixth form and starting university, I took a year out to gain some work experience in a marketing role to prepare me for life after university and the placement year I have to complete whilst there. I was fortunate enough to get a weeks’ worth of work experience for HPS group However, after the first week they asked me if I would like to continue for an extra month or so with pay. During the first week at HPS I was with the Mazda team looking at the different social media aspects involved in their business. For the next five weeks, I was based in the PR department, I worked with a lot of different organizations and companies, for example; ‘hearing dogs for deaf people’, BMW, BMW motorrad, and Saville gardens. Throughout my experience I learnt about coverage reports and used precise media to create one for ‘hearing dogs for deaf people’, I helped with the organization of a BMW campaign, I learnt how to use different databases such as Gorkana to look at journalist data and how to use the BMW motorrad system. My time at HPS was invaluable, the experience I got from working in the marketing environment has given me a far greater understanding of what it will be like to work for a similar company once I have graduated from university.   Temporary Assistant

  Over the summer of 2017 I found the opportunity to work for 2 weeks in the Conde Nast sales team, I did some admin work, invigilated in the interview process but also got the chance to attended different meetings for the magazines such as Vogue, Tatler and World of interiors. After completing the two weeks of experience I was asked to return to do some paid work within the team for a further 2 weeks. I feel this experience gave me not only knowledge of a publication company and how it works but the different skills required to work in a sales team. Show less

  I have completed a week of work at Royal Ascot, and have worked at Windsor race course on many different occasions. At both events, I have worked in boxes, these are very professional and busy environments, there is a lot of customer contact and there is a high expectation to work swiftly and precisely without any mistakes. I feel the week at Ascot was very intense and the hours were very long however the experience I gained from it made it extremely worthwhile.
