      Employed as Head of the Logistics Department of the Royal Navy's new Survey Hydrographic and Oceanographic Ship.Managed the Logistics Department from post build trials, through 'first of class' Sea training and into operational service for the Royal Navy. Planned, prepared and supported through a 10 month deployment to the Middle and Far East.Key Achievements:- In consultation with the Contractor (Vosper Thornycroft) and the Minor Warship Integrated Project Team ensured that the Ship entered and exited its first overseas docking period with all planned and emergent work complete.- Oversaw the integration of the RN's inaugural Contractor Logistics Initial Fit.- Performed as the Ships Damage Control Officer during all onboard emergencies.       The role was responsible for the procurement, development and stock management of all Operational Feeding Solutions for the Armed Forces.Primary Responsibilities:- Project Manage Operational Ration Pack procurement, ensuring training, exercise, operations and mandated stock levels are available for immediate consumption. Stock value circa £25M.- Formulate and implement policy and requirements for ORP in consultation with PJHQ and Front Line Commands.- Ensure shelf life of 24 HR and 10 Man ORP was efficiently managed and write off reduced to an absolute minimum.- Engage with industry, academia and other Armed Forces to progress Research and Development work streams.- Direct the Commercial team to procure ORP components to meet packing timelines.- Identify componentry, and Chair Food Selection Panels to improve Ration PacksKey Achievements:- Working with prime contractor Project Managed the design, delivery and introduction into service of the 24 HR Multi Climate Ration Pack for use on Operations within a 9 month window to budget and time. Success of the project was recognised as delivering "the biggest change to operational feeding for thirty years and being a key enabler to success on operations". Project value was circa £13M.- Taking feedback from Operations, designed, developed and published a 10 Man ORP Recipe Book to assist Chefs in menu design and to avoid menu fatigue in the field.- Planned, delivered and managed project to commercially produce dehydrated rations to support Royal Marine Arctic Training.- Development and commercial outsourcing of Multi Climate Ration proved viability of shorter shelf life items and I contributed to the move from in-house packing to outsourced procurement and packing of all Operational Ration Packs. Savings estimated at over £10M with reduced Operational Stock and closure and Warehousing and Packing Facility. Show less

      Logistics Ratings Branch Manager - Strategic Workforce Planning

      The role was responsible for the provision of Sufficient and Qualified Logistics Branch Ratings within the Supply Chain, Writer and Catering Services Specialisations to meet the Defence Requirement within the 2-10 year window. Responsible for approximately 3000 personnel. Primary Responsibilities:- Propose, Develop and implement manpower policy (s) for all Logistics Branch Specialisations.- Identify threats to structural sustainability and propose and introduce corrective action.- Calculate recruiting, transfer and promotion targets in the 0-5 year timeframe.- Lead on manning requirements for future platforms (Queen Elizabeth Aircraft Carrier, T26 Frigate and Future Submarines)- Act as the Logistics Ratings focal point between Fleet HQ and other Training Providers to determine current and future Logistics Training requirements.- Chair Logistics Promotion and Career Extension Selection Boards.Key Achievements:- Playing a pivotal role in managing the downsizing of the Logistics Ratings Specialisations as a result of the Strategic Defence and Security Review in 2010. This required developed analytical skills and solution creation and development to successfully manage manning levers such as redundancy, promotion and risk based suppression of recruiting pipelines. Strategic direction was to ensure the target reduction of around 750 personnel was achieved within a short timeframe and with minimal impact to current operations.- Proposed and introduced a Training Governance Structure for the Logistics Branch that brought together training providers, frontline employers and other key stakeholders to drive out training waste, minimise time personnel were away from core roles and deliver qualified individuals to the point of need in the organisation to deliver support to Ships, Submarines, Naval Air Squadrons and Royal Marines at Sea, ashore and on live operations.
