      Oct 2005 - Feb 2015
      Researcher

My projects included the EU FP7 Distributed Energy Resources - Research Infrastructure project. I worked across a number of different strands, real-time simulation for power system testing, standards for testing large scale inverters and storage, integration of laboratories across the internet along with networking projects in increasing testing quality. Under this project I coordinated visiting researchers to work in our power systems' laboratories. For my PhD I developed a steel embedded fibre optic sensor systemUsed COMSOL Multiphysics for stress and thermal analysisCreated an interrogation system using a wideband optical filterDeveloped a control system based on real-time LabVIEWI also worked for the Power Network Demonstration Centre (the PNDC) on power systems testing, systems integration, SharePoint development, IP Management and website up-keep.
