Internship: Development of graphical components in JavaFX for a web application

JavaFX was a brand new technology at this time and the main aim of the internship was to learn how to use it. In order to do this, I participated in the development of the graphical interface of a web application designed to enable the construction and customization of printable calendars and photo albums.

      Feb 2010 - Jul 2010
Final internship: Participation to the Key Programme WISH

The main objective of the project was to simulate the line profiles observed with the Herschel HIFI tool for massive stars. The information collected on the transitions of water molecules have enabled the refining of simulations. In this project, scripts for simulations automation and comparison with observations have been developed. The simulation code MC3D has also been accelerated. Advisor: Jonathan Braine

Title : Stable context recognition for smart home.Smart home is a major subject of interest. It helps to assist elderly or disabled people, improve comfort, safety, and also save energy. Today, ubiquitous computing is developed and integrated into the smart home providing context-awareness. Unfortunately, understanding what happens in a home is not always easy.In this thesis, we explain how context can be used to deploy services tailored to the activities and needs of residents. Understanding context requires the installation of sensors but also the abstraction of raw data into easily understandable data usable by humans and services. We present a multi-layer architecture of data fusion used to obtain contextual information of different levels of abstraction. The implementation of the lower layers is presented in detail with the application of the theory of belief functions for the abstraction of raw sensor data. Finally, are presented the deployment of a prototype that allowed us to validate our approach and the deployed services. Show less

    • Nimbus Centre

      Mar 2014 - May 2016
      Postdoctoral Researcher

During my post-doc at Nimbus Centre in Cork (Ireland), I worked within the European project Tribute. We investigated novel methods for the detection of occupancy in public buildings (offices, libraries, etc.). I proposed a system using Wi-Fi sniffers gathering probe packets sent by Wi-Fi devices to locate those devices and estimate occupancy based on a probabilistic approach. I've also used machine learning to count people based on simple PIR sensor binary events.

    • Xanadu Consultancy

      Jun 2016 - Apr 2017
      Data Scientist

During that year at Xanadu Consultancy Limited, I worked within both the data science department and the tech department on the development of new data products. My role was to work on the design and implementation of a generic user profiling engine for the personalisation of the user experience, the automation of bonuses, and data gathering. I also assumed the role of Scrum master in my team.

      Jul 2018 - Sept 2021
      Postdoctoral Researcher

I worked as a post-doc researcher within a European project called LOGISTAR. My role was to provide predictions for logistics operations using machine learning methods.
