      Sept 2009 - Sept 2011
Registered Nurse (Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse), Cardiac Care Unit

Guy’s and St Thomas’ is a 1,000-bed leading Academic Medical Center in the United Kingdom with more than 12,000 staff that cares for more than 1.5 million patients a year. While working at one of the busiest CCU referral centers, I gained invaluable experience in treating and caring for a range of complex critical cardiac patients including patients with myocardial infarction, cardiogenic shock, congestive heart failure, pulmonary oedema and congenital heart disease as well as patients that had undergone percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI/PTCA) and transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). As a result, I am very familiar with caring for patients requiring invasive cardiac monitoring, intra-aortic balloon pumps, temporary pacing, inotropes and continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP).Overview of Nursing Responsibiliteis1. Charge Nurse on a regular basis covering both day and night shifts.2. Link Nurse for the Infection Prevention and Control Program, conducting monthly infection control audits (‘Saving Lives Audits’) and raising awareness among staff on how to reduce healthcare-associated infections. 3. Oversaw the infection control education of CCU nursing staff by updating and developing educational material and hosting education classes for RNs, health care assistants and nursing students. 4. Completed various courses while in employment. Show less
