      The JET Program is run by the Japanese government and involves the government hiring participants to teach in schools in Japan in order to promote English language development and internatioalization of Japanese students throughout Japan. The program places participants in each prefecture in Japan. I am based in Kobe city in Hyogo prefecture.I currently teach English at two elementary schools and one junior high school. Work requires collaborating with my Official Teacher of English in Junior High to develop team teaching plans for our lessons and also include me planning all lessons at the elementary school level. As the english level at each school varies, I engage with school staff in both English and Japanese on a daily basis, sometimes using only Japanese in order to plan and carryout lesson plans with the Japanese homeroom teacher. I am also responsible for translation between my schools and foreign guests that come to visit our schools for international events.In addition to lesson planning, I am responsible for developing relationships with students and getting them interested in foreign cultures or going abroad.
