A group itinerary was used to work out travelling times and to book the appropriate reservations; this was also done within the budget constraints of each individual group. This often meant negotiating with the attractions and restaurants to get discounts. I was also responsible for booking the train and ferry tickets for all our groups, and ensuring all tickets received were correct and suited the itinerary. Checking invoices from our suppliers was also another duty which I undertook ensuring that all payments were received on time and that the correct transaction had been made. Show less

Much of my time was spent liaising with various Council departments that facilitated with the event, such as Highways departments and also working closely with the Police. Attending the various planning meetings and circulating the Action Plans as a result, was an important aspect of my job and ensuring that all Action Points were completed within the set timescales. As well as running of the event from start to finish I was also responsible for dealing with customer services and event entry. Secondary to this I also had to recruit and manage a team of 500 volunteers who were required during Race Week to put the race on.
