      Jan 1997 - Jan 1998
      Project / Commissioning Manager

The company is involved in the manufacture and design of transformer oil purification and regeneration plant, which are sold all over the world.I was responsible for the project management and construction of their first PCB destruction plant (Destruction of PCB in transformer oil) as well as the commissioning of the machine, both at their facilities and in Australia. This involved managing people both in the drawing office as well as the workshop. During the manufacturing stage, because the machine was the first machine of its kind it resulted in me having to spend a large amount of time on the factory floor supervising the construction and testing of the machine. The commissioning of the machine involved training the client’s operators as well as liaising with the client and the relevant regulating authorities in Australia, in order to obtain the relevant licences to operate the machine. I was further responsible for the R & D department, which consisted of two fitters and a labourer, who manufactured the reagents needed to run the PCB destruction machine. Show less

    • Corobrik

      Sept 2002 - now
      Director Of Engineering

EXCO position. I am responsible for the engineering and technical departments.Corobrik has at present 13 factories operating in various parts of South Africa. All fall under the MINES HEALTH & SAFETY ACT. Various different technologies are employed at the various factories depending on the target market they service. A number of the plants have an ISO 9001 accreditation. Corobrik was the first company in South Africa to be granted Carbon Credits for a conversion project which I managed. All plants either operate tunnel kilns, or transverse arch kilns (TVA), with the setting and de-hacking of bricks at the one plant being carried out by Fanuc robots, similar to those utilized in motor vehicle assembly lines. All the tunnel kilns and some of the TVA kilns are PLC controlled, employing ‘Rockwell Automation’ technology. The human interface with the equipment, therefore being via either a scada package or a ‘Rockwell Panel view ‘system.Typically each factory will consist of the following: A mining quarry, a grinding plant, a making plant, setting, dryers, kiln, de-hacking and dispatch.
