      The sustainability program is a Makerere University and Bangor University (Wales) initiative that enhances students to take the lead in promoting sustainability at their university and the wider community through shared learning and engaging in practical solutions.The Water Audit project was a student initiative to solve the high water incurred by the University without affecting standard daily amount of water needed for adequate use.In a group of 11 selected student-interns, the tasks of the project included:• Pre-project brainstorming and execution development, researching for relevant information about water audits, water closets in facilities, standards for daily water use and many others.• Site visits and measurements, academic visits to bodies like National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC), and finally discussions to analyse data received and raise solutions.• Presenting the project findings and solutions to Makerere University Council, Estates and Works department of the University and NWSC. This project was approved by the University council.• As the selected head representative, I conveyed the group’s findings and any other needs like safety equipment for work to the Department Administration. Request in for these tender documents, share with the rest of the team and analyze these documents carefully. • Attend or execute site visits to clearly understand the project(s) at hand. • Coordinate the bidding team to ensure all the administrative requirements are prepared well and filed. • Prepare technical requirements for these tenders like ESHS methodology, Site organization, Method statement, Equipment and Personnel required, Contract Management policy, Schedule of activities, etc. • In case of a design and build tender, perform studies and develop design of the structure. • Quantify the materials of the project and develop Bills of Quantities or cross-check the given BOQ values. • Scout suppliers / subcontractors and request for their offers towards the works / services in the set project. • Discuss with my line manger to decide on the suppliers and subcontractors to use on the project. Develop the price Bid rates and the technical data sheets from the quotations of the selected suppliers and subcontractors.• File these technical and financial requirements and cross check the entire document to be offered. • Submit and attend the bid closing meetings and follow up on the offer.• And finally, as assigned by my line manager, participate in contract negotiation and prepare documents for the contract to be signed.Generally, I have attained expertise in development of offers for all civil works on Roads & Railways, Hydraulic, Buildings, Dams and Oil & Gas projects.
