    • General Electric

      Oct 2009 - Nov 2012

Supported design and validation of locomotive cooling system components. Led project to improve cooling water maintenance to reduce failures and improve reliability. Setup process to repair heat exchangers to save business and customers time of waiting (months to weeks) for new part and reduced cost by 95% (Repair vs. new). Led 2 processes with cross functional teams on a Global Strategic Supplier Initiative to optimize bearing and gear supplierbase. Mitigated significant inflation through work done.Owned a technology development project for improved turbocharger bearing life and lower cost.

      Edison Engineering Development Program

The Edison Engineering Development Program is a leadership program with several rotations designed to immerse an engineer into various engineering functions of the business in order to quickly develop breadth and experience throughout the organization. Each rotation has its own set of goals and objectives typically with an aggressive timetable. The first was in Mechanical Propulsion. Projects centered around work on off highway vehicle (OHV) motors and alternators for large mining trucks. Responsibilities included design and validation, new product development and introduction, & manufacturing shop support. The second rotation was with the measurement and instrumentation lab supporting new product development, reliability, and the test labs. Responsibilities included working with engineers to develop testing and instrumentation plans to physically instrumenting a component or system to setting up and conducting a test thru data acquisition and finally analysis. Rotation was an excellent learning in validation of components and systems. Worked on a wide variety of tests from a single bolt to a diesel engine in a test cell to locomotives and large haul truck tests in the field. The final rotation was in the OHV system engineering team as a motorized wheel engineer. Responsibilities included data analysis from the field, reliability & productivity projects, and preliminary design exploration & calculations for a new product. Show less

      May 2014 - May 2022
      Lead Surface Mining Systems Engineer

Systems engineer for drive systems on mining haul trucks. Responsibilities include design and validation of new products and field support of fleets in service. This requires working closely with owners of other sub-systems and multiple component engineers to guide the team through the engineering process ensuring customer needs and requirements are met. Primarily focused on motorized wheel sub-system "final drive" of truck. Motorized wheel comprises an electric traction motor and transmission. Show less
