      Automotive Technician Apprentice

This was a seasonal position where I provided assistance to the dealership independently performing scheduled maintenance procedures including tire replacement and balancing, brake fluid exchange, oil service, 4-wheel toe alignments, brake pad and rotor replacement, etc. I also frequently shadowed and assisted lead technicians on more complex diagnostic and repair tasks where needed such as dashboard replacements, interior equipment repair, and check engine light diagnosis to increase shop efficiency and to cultivate my skills as a professional. Feb 2019 - Jul 2020
      Automotive Technician

In this role as a certified Volvo technician I was responsible for independently performing scheduled maintenance, diagnosing customer complaints, and rectifying issues across all subsystems found on new and legacy Volvo passenger car platforms. This ranged from general vehicular inspection, to engine control and mechanical diagnostics to suspension, chassis and brakes repair to electronics and computer system functionality diagnosis. Furthermore, I was responsible for used car reconditioning, new inventory pre-delivery inspection, and ensuring every vehicle I worked on was serviced and repaired properly. During my time at this position, I serviced over 500 vehicles both with and without warranty claims and my performance regularly surpassed warranty pay for many different operations. I became certified as a Master Automotive Technician during this time and took several technical classes at Volvo’s Southern California training center in Santa Fe Springs. Show less

      Core Member

As a member of Triton Racing FSAE, I was heavily involved with development and refinery of a long term engine platform, and later, managed all vehicle running operations leading the team to a record 8th and 4th place finish at FSAE Michigan 2022 and '23 respectively. Student Machinist/Teaching Assistant

In this role I was responsible for assisting in the administration of UCSD’s “Intro to Manual and CNC Machining” course, and general shop upkeep. This course taught undergraduate students how to manufacture a precision Geneva drive mechanism using these technologies. My activities included running live demonstrations on manual and CNC milling and turning machines, overseeing student work and administering help when needed, and grading/correcting student CAM programs in Fusion 360. I taught over 150 students at this position, and I extended this role to Triton Racing FSAE in coordination with my superiors to allow prospective unenrolled team members to gain access to the shop by completing the class curriculum. I created a corresponding curriculum wiki for the team to assist in future administration. Additionally, I was responsible for shop upkeep such as machine maintenance and tool/hardware organization whilst not teaching, as well as taking on assigned side projects to improve the day-to-day function of the department’s resources. These projects included creating a custom live center butt-end removal adapter for a HAAS TL-1 lathe, creating a set of imperial heat-set insert installation tools for 3D-printed parts, and estimating a cost per hour figure for a WARDJET A-Series waterjet.
