  Value Added Systems Engineer Intern

  At Digicel, I was placed in the VAS department. My main responsibilities where centered around software development to create scripts and web applications to automate certain processes. Two of the main projects I worked on were: Create a web application to allow for the resetting of passwords for an internal application used by employees. This was done using Node, Express, Vue.js and a Mysql database. The application also interacted with an Oracle database.  Create a script to automate the checking of availability of virtual machines. This was done using bash scripts running on a Linux server.   Worked in the Solution Sales, Circuit Switching and Packet Switching (CS & PS) departments. Some notable achievements include:  Best performing intern in examinations which tested knowledge of courses on Huawei's Solutions and Services. Assisted in installing the first 5G test site in the Caribbean. This involved preparing both the Active Antenna Unit (AAU) and the 5G Base Band Unit (BBU) and finally connecting and configuring both devices.  Assisted in designing the radio access network (RAN) of a lab which aims to give students hands on experience with commercial grade communication equipment. This included designing GSM, UMTS, LTE FDD and LTE TDD networks. Show less
