      My current position involves delivering a range of advisory, regulatory, licensing and support services to the mining, construction, agriculture and entertainment industries as well as to the government and the community. The Inspectorate leads the development of safety standards and the establishment of appropriate regulatory regimes for explosives in Queensland, including blasting explosives, fireworks, ammunition and other explosives types. Provide emergency response capabilities to all explosives incidents, including advice, site assistance, render safe, recoveries, disposal and investigations to maximise preparedness and prevention. I am also responsible for monitoring and regulating safety performance and compliance within the explosives industry.My Key Duties and accountabilities:• Undertake the duties of an explosives inspector as defined by the Explosives Act 1999 and Explosives Regulation 2003 including the consistent use of powers to:• enter and search places• inspect explosives and explosives facilities• seize explosives • • Monitor, audit and inspect a complex range of explosives activities accordance with the established regional program and initiate corrective actions or prosecutions where appropriate. The range of activities include:• The use and handling of explosives in underground and open cut mines• The use and handling of explosives at quarries and construction sites• The use and handling of fireworks within the community• The import, manufacture, storage, transport, sale and export of explosives, fireworks and ammunition• Licensing of all explosives activities within the life cycle including the licencing of ammunition collectors, shotfirers, fireworks operators and fireworks contractors• The safety and security of government magazines• Provide professional, authority and timely advice on issues related to explosives including advice to police and emergency services and the planned recovery of explosives in the community. • Show less
