This is very dynamic and multi-faceted position.Microwave TowersThis required construction (mostly additions of superstructure to support Gabriel, KS Horns, Parabolic… antennas). Included in this is climbing, of course, inspecting for safety, and maintenance of all aspect. At times, demolition is part of the assigned task as well.Fiber OpticsFiber Optics is the “bread & butter” of this position. It is required to know how to use and maintain equipment for fusion splicing. Fujikura and Sumitomo were the two types of fusion machines I used most. However, I’m familiar with 3M, Ericsson, Anritsu, and EXFO. This includes using cleavers with both single and ribbon fiber.EXFO, by far, is the testing equipment used by AT&T for fiber continuity, integrity, distance. Testing included but not limited to: Power Meters, OTDR (FTB-400), Light Source… I have used Anritsu OTDR, Smolts equipment for testing. Also, it was required to protect and located fiber optic cable lines. Terminate fiber cables in Optical Amp (Regen), COs, POIs, LGX bays… It is required to be on call 24/7. Travel to anywhere in the country (and to its territories), at a moment’s notice and in all type of weather conditions. Just to clarify, I traveled from Destin FL to Jacksonville FL to Naples FL to San Diego CA in 9 days. There are other times I traveled from places like Plano TX to Blackstone MA in 4 days or from Tallahassee FL to Seattle WA in 5 days. All by “splice truck” if you will and at a moment’s notice. Working disaster recovery is the norm (Katrina, Ivan, Charlie, George…). I had the privilege of being involved with the construction of the first coast to coast OC192 IP Network “AT&T and Avici” in December 2000.I don’t mention this to brag, but to impress upon you that I am committed and trustworthy. Premise Technician

Installing/Repairing: TV, internet, & telephone service to residential and business customers. This is achieved through standard telephone twisted pair. My task starts at the NID-Network Interface Device (the ugly gray boxes on the sides of homes and business). From this point, I test to verify the integrity of the signal. If VDSL signal is passing, I run homerun line to RG-Residential Gateway (modem) by either Cat5e line or RG6 (TV cable) coax. From there, the signal is dispersed to the STB-Set Top Boxes by HPNA (Home Phone Network) transmitted over RG6 coax or twisted pair, or Ethernet. At times it is required to make Ethernet and coax runs from scratch.Internet and telephone service are provided to customer as well. Setting up LAN & wireless configurations for customer networks, converting telephone services from P.O.T.S (Plain Old Telephone Service) to VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) and insuring alarms service were compatible and working after installation of service. It is a requirement to educate the customer on how to use the system, installing software on customer computers, and making them feel at home while I’m in their home. The objective is to leave the customers premise better than it was when I arrived, and the give the customer a “very satisfied” AT&T Uverse experience.; Construction – Telecom (Wireless, Sat-Com, and Fiber Cable) Show less

    • U. S. Cellular

      Oct 2011 - Sept 2012
      Service Technician

Retail support and service, diagnose and trouble shoot issue with cellular devices (laptops, cell phones, tablets…) and service. This position requires dealing with customers with special needs & concerns beyond sales. This includes being respectful to the customers demand, accommodating, and honest without violating company policy or the law. In short, the technical issues seem to be the biggest part of this position, when actually it’s knowing the what’s & ifs. Solving a customers issues my seem like the right thing to do when in fact it may be violating a warranty, service agreement, contract, or law. This can be a tough call, not so much as following procedure, but in knowing that any “fall out” from doing my job the right way isn’t a personal attack on me. MY JOB IS TO MAINTAIN THE UTMOST IN CUSTOMER SATISFACATION AND PROTECT THE INTEREST OF THE COMPANY. Show less

    • Time Warner Cable

      Sept 2012 - Sept 2015
      Fiber Optic Technician

My position with Time Warner Cable (TWC) consist of testing, locating, verifying, and splicing fiber, mostly single mode/single thread fibers, both for commercial, industrial, and tower communication sites. I also verify the design and MOPs before splicing or investigation of any splice canisters, nodes, or patch panel installations. This includes changing filter frequencies, port or MUX locations at the head end or at any locations between demark and head end. A lot of the equipment is pretty much standard for testing, for instance using the OTDR, power meter, light identifier… Not as much equipment is used at with AT&T. I’m also charged with overseeing operations with TWC contractors. I am also certified to operate forklift and bucket truck. Show less
