  Third year Peace Corps Volunteer placement with the Education Development Center's USAID supported Literacy, Language and Learning (L3) Initiative. Designed print and audio instructional materials for 1st and 2nd grade English classes in Rwanda, including creation of a daily student reader now used by 1.8 million children. Monitored and evaluated 90 pilot schools in anticipation of a nationwide program launch. Liaised between teachers in the field, in rural areas, and program staff, as well as the Rwandan Education Board, in the capital city. Show less Taught English classes to all students and levels at a rural, public, Lower Secondary school (equivalent to US middle school 6th to 8th grade). Worked with over 300 students each year. Collaborated with teachers to facilitate trainings, the creation of a school library, student camps and workshops and a partnership with an on-air teaching program through Rwanda TV (supported by FHI 360). Conducted various secondary activities outside of the school, most notably as an instructor of Rwandan judges, lawyers and court staff in a Peace Corps Volunteer- run English Language training program. Single-handedly created and managed a highly successful, weekend Youth Empowerment Workshop for students from my school and neighboring schools in the area.
