  • Sailed on the TSES VI where cadets were able to take what they learned in the classroom on the fundamentals of engineering and then apply it to practical experience. • Stood watches in the central plant and main propulsion system for the vessel which consisted of: 2 Foster Wheeler Type D Marine Steam Boilers that produced 200,00 lb/hr of superheated steam at 605 psi at 905 degrees F. , 2 steam turbines that could produce up to 25,700 HP and a 1500 kw steam turbine power plant • Performed hands on maintenance on all equipment on the vessel.   • Assisted Engineers with the operations of a 10-Megawatt Cogen Plant, 14-Kilovolt high tension utility feeder with related substations and 3.9 Megawatt of emergency power generation• Preventive maintenance on diesel engines, gas turbines, and high-pressure boilers • Preformed rounds and assisted the engineers with maintenance of the HVAC equipment and water treatment On my weekends off school, I worked as an intern learning the fundamentals of engineering alongside operating and stationary engineers. The experience was priceless, and it allowed me to visually see the concepts I was learning in the classroom at SUNY Maritime College during the week.
