      The Branch Secretary is the first channel of communication between members and the NFSP as well as between members and Post Office Ltd.Branch Secretaries will be notified by Post Office Ltd of any robberies or burglaries at any office within the branch they represent. Branch secretaries should immediately contact the Sub-Postmaster to find out if the NFSP can be of assistance.Part of a Branch Secretary's work is dealing with members' individual problems. Tact, patience, firmness and fairness are necessary when intervening in disputes between a member and Post Office Ltd.The following are some examples of particular items where a member may seek the assistance of a Branch Secretary:- - Dismissal - Contributions to losses, either after a robbery at their office or through negligence at the counter i.e. frauds etc - Concessionary closing (e.g. family bereavement or serious illness etc) - Public complaints against an individual office - Mailwork items (those office that combine a Post Office and a Royal Mail delivery office) - Security - Attending disciplinary hearings with members. Show less As well as being a member of the committee with responsibilities below, the Vice Chair of Standing Orders is required to assist the Chair in relation: - to any point of order raised and also the smooth running of the Annual Conference. - to ensuring clear counting of delegate voting in respect of any Conference debateThe Standing Orders Committee of the NFSP is responsible for: - the order in which the Annual Conference proceedings should take place. - the rules by which the NFSP conducts itself. - the timetabling of motions and rule changes being proposed for debate by delegates at the Annual Conference. - the timetabling of required Annual Reports and Open debates during the Annual Conference. - Providing a link between members and the Executive Council.
