      Best Editor/News Director Prize USP Journalism Program Nov 1999 This award was in recognition of my work as the Deputy Editor of the SPICOL Daily - a student newspaper that reported on the University's student simulation of the Pacific Islands Conference of Leaders.Normally an award given to final year students, I was the first 2nd year journalism student to receive this award.

      Ossie Award Journalism Education and Research Association of Australia Nov 1999 I wrote the submission which saw the University of the South Pacific's journalism program winning its very first Ossie award for its student newspaper Wansolwara (of which I was a reporter). The newspaper was awarded: "Highly Commended, Best Regular Publication, Print" and was chosen from over 100 entries in various categories from Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific.
