Impact: • A comprehensive review of outcomes revealed that the specialty units had achieved all major milestones addressed in academic research. • The program became a sound training program for front-line personnel who were assigned to the program.• Wrote a revised specialty unit policy which institutionalized the new process.• Delivered a presentation at a national-level conference based on my experiences. Show less Public Information Officer (PIO) and supervised the building maintenance team.- Provided local reporters with in-person press briefings. Conducted on-camera/radio interviews. Managed Kansas Open Records Act requests. * Was able to conduct PIO duties during a critical incident while on vacation due to trust I had with the local press.- Organized building maintenance priorities and worked with county officials to obtain approval on a limited budget. * Several high-ticket building projects were approved for our facility, improving safety and comfort. Police Training Officer Program: Graduated from the problem-based learning facilitator school and advanced the agency's on-the-job training program.- Taught on-the-job training programs and related courses throughout Kansas and North America using problem-based learning (PBL). - Created evaluations and instituted self-reflection tools for recruits and trainers. Established regular trainer meetings. - Built buy-in with supervisory staff. PTO program Impact: The on-the-job training program expanded into other operational sections. I became a Level IV PBL instructor for Police Society for Problem Based Learning. Supervisors report new employees look and think like 3-5 year veterans. Presented with an award and credited with changing the culture of the agency into one of critical thinking and problem-solving. Wrote a on-the-job training policy, a problem-based pre-hiring process, and a new supervisor training program. Show less - Created an actionable analysis reports.- Focused first-line personnel on reducing high harm incidents through organized and effective responses. - Liaised with Senior Operations Manager to get additional resources. - Worked to reduce paperwork. - Purposefully assigned front-line personnel to problem areas in order to prevent fatality accidents.Harm Analysis: - Used internal data to create a quarterly report which pinpointed the top harm. - Created a quick reference list of top harm locations and directed front-line personnel to those areas. Impact: Senior Management authorized preventative activities in problem areas on an overtime basis. Front-line personnel appreciated receiving meaningful harm data.
