  Studying the development of antimicrobial resistance in the human pathogen, Giardia intestinalis.In this project, I performed drug susceptibility assays for a range of antimicrobial agents against the human parasite, Giardia intestinalis. From this data it was possible to obtain IC50 values for the effective drugs, including some not previous known to have anti-giardial activity. Using these results I then performed recovery assays to ascertain the long-term effects of these drugs against the parasites.During this time I was also fortunate enough to be able to join the SciLife Single Cell Genomics course from 4/3-6/3/20 where we studied a range of techniques such as laser microdissection, SMART-seq2 and how to analyse data from single cell experiments.   Performing the laboratory analysis elements of the Stockholm3 Prostate cancer diagnostic test. I primarily worked with protein analysis using the BRAHMS Kryptor instrument and the ELISA method, which replaced the previously used PLA. I was involved with the development, implementation and optimisation of ELISA as a diagnostic procedure. This position required the use of a range of different laboratory robots as well as the appropriate handling of patient samples. At A3P, I also worked as Safety Officer and was responsible for liaising with management to ensure we have a safe and productive workplace. As part of this position I attended a two day course on "Workplace Environment for Managers" provided by Prevent. Show less

  We work to help pharmaceutical companies assess the effects of their drug candidates on the human immune system. As such I perform a wide range of techniques, including, but not limited to, ELISA, MSD and flow cytometry. I am also one of the lab team members responsible for drawing blood from our donors for use in the ID. flow assay. In addition to this, I carry out data analysis and QC tasks before the results are returned to the customer.I am additionally heavily involved with the work environment management at Immuneed and work as the Safety Officer. This covers taking responsibility for training and ensuring that the workplace environment is not just safe but optimised for the health and comfort of our staff. Show less
